Pricing & Quotes
How much does it cost to hire movers?
Pricing depends on the size of your home, distance, and any add-on services like packing or storage. Local moves typically run $90–$200/hour for a crew, while a studio or 1-bedroom apartment move often falls between $350–$700 total. Long-distance and commercial moves are quoted individually. Every quote is honest and upfront — no hidden fees.
Is the quote you give me the final price?
We provide transparent, written estimates based on the details you share with us. If everything matches what you described on move day, your final price will match your quote. Unexpected factors (extra items, stairs not mentioned, etc.) may adjust the total, but we always explain any change before it’s charged.
Do you charge a deposit?
Some moves require a small deposit to hold your date, especially during peak season (May–September) or for long-distance bookings. Your move coordinator will let you know if a deposit applies when you book.
Are there any hidden fees I should know about?
No. We disclose all potential fees upfront, including stair/elevator carries, long carries from parking, and bulky-item handling. If something isn’t in your quote, we won’t charge for it without telling you first.
Booking & Scheduling
How far in advance should I book my move?
We recommend booking 2–4 weeks ahead, especially for weekends or end-of-month dates when demand is highest. That said, we also accommodate same-day and last-minute moves whenever our schedule allows — just call and ask.
Can I change or cancel my move date?
Yes. We understand plans change. Contact us as soon as possible so we can rebook your crew for a new date or process a cancellation. Any deposit policy will be explained at booking.
Do you offer weekend or evening moves?
Yes, we work weekends and can accommodate evening time slots depending on crew availability. Let us know your preferred window when requesting a quote.
Moving Day
What should I do to prepare for moving day?
Have small valuables, important documents, and medications packed separately and with you. Clear walkways, reserve parking/elevator access if needed, and label boxes by room. Our crew will handle everything else — from furniture disassembly to careful loading.
Do your movers disassemble and reassemble furniture?
Yes. Beds, dressers, tables, and similar furniture are disassembled and reassembled at no extra charge as part of a full-service move.
What if I live in an apartment with stairs or a strict elevator schedule?
We handle apartment moves with stairs and elevator restrictions regularly. Our crews bring the right equipment (dollies, straps, moving blankets) and coordinate timing in advance so elevator windows and stairwell access don’t slow things down.
Are your movers licensed and insured?
Yes. Budget Moving Services is fully licensed and insured, and every crew member is background-checked. Basic valuation coverage is included on every move, with additional protection available on request.
Packing, Storage & Long-Distance
Do you offer packing services?
Yes — full packing, partial packing (just the kitchen or garage, for example), and unpacking assistance are all available. We also offer specialty packing for fragile, oversized, or high-value items.
Do you provide storage?
We offer short-term, long-term, overnight, and storage-in-transit options for customers who need a gap between move-out and move-in dates.
Do you handle long-distance and interstate moves?
Yes, we handle local and long-distance moves throughout the East Coast and beyond. Long-distance moves are quoted based on weight/volume, distance, and any packing or storage add-ons.
What items can’t be moved?
Hazardous materials (propane tanks, gasoline, paint, ammunition, etc.), perishable food, and certain plants typically can’t be transported by professional movers. Ask your move coordinator if you’re unsure about a specific item.
